One-hit Wonders

People can be summed up into two camps: those that are rooting for their team to be no-hit late in the game, and those that want their team to get any meaningless hit possible to break up the no-hitter. I’m in the latter. Sure, you could tell me that it’s great baseball, and it’s good for the game and all that crap. But I’m loyal, and just like you don’t want Barry Bond’s 756th home run to come against your team (do you know how many times you’ll have to watch that clip on Sportscenter?), you don’t want to be in the table of no-hit teams in the baseball almanac. So, my thanks go out to JD Drew for ending this whole shenanigan in the 8th with a clean single up the middle.

All that being said, as good as D-Mat was last night (7IP, 3ER), I can see what all the hype has been about with King Felix. The guy was dealin’. He throws 98 and it looks like he’s playing catch. Poor Dustin Pedroia looked completely outmatched. He was flinching at fastballs that were outside. It took the Sox until the 7th inning to get the ball out of the infield. If he can keep up his command, I think this guy will be challenging Santana for the Cy Young award this year.

Today’s game has been moved up in hopes of getting the game in before the snow. Note to Bud: warm climates and domes in April. It’s not rocket science.
