Today we salute you, Mr. I’m going to use Julio Lugo as a pinch runner instead of pinch hitting him. (Gonna pinch run Julio Lugo!) What do you do when you have a guy coming to the plate in the 8th with a .143 average, and a decent bat in the dugout? You pinch-run for the guy at first. (Piiiinch run him!) Most managers in their right mind would bring in Lugo for Cora. You let Lugo run (speedy legs!), and watched as Cora hit a triple into the left-center field gap to drive in the go ahead-run. Sure, you could have made the easy call, but even you knew the stats weren’t on your side. (Screw statistics!) So crack open an ice cold Sam Adams, you braintrust of the dugout, and enjoy your win before the MFY come into town. (Mr. I’m gonna pinch run Julio Lugo…)

Oh, and thanks to Manny for finally waking up and tying the game in the 8th. As for Tavarez? Well, let’s quote Babe, “That’ll do pig, that’ll do.”
