I&#039;ve never met Doug in person, but from what I&#039;ve read about him, I suspect he was being sarcastic.  In the interviews I&#039;ve read, he never seemed to have any illusions about his abilities.  Curt Shilling had nothing but praise for him, both before and after he was released.

I for one am going to miss him.
