This is Our Cleanup Hitter?

When Radhames Liz puts his head down on the pillow after a hard day’s work and closes his eyes, I can only imagine that he keeps having this recurring nightmare where he has to face David Ortiz with the bases loaded and one out. Every time he serves up a 2-run double, and wakes up in a cold sweat; except for yesterday when there was no waking from the dream. Papi crushed Liz going 3-3, with 2 2B and 4 RBIs.
Amazingly, Ortiz wasn’t even hitting 4th. That would be some guy named Pedroia who is putting the “cleanup” back in cleanup hitter going 3-5, 1 HR, and 5 RBIs but still can’t reach the top shelf of his parents liquor cabinet. I’m not really sure what else to say, even Remy and Orsillo ran out of things to do yesterday…

Hope for us short guys –
We just gotta stop our bullpen from letting guys get back in the counts. How many times have seen Oki and Delcarmen sit there and get 0-2 and then corner ball with the pitching and get to 3-2? That DRIVES ME CRAZY. You get up on a hitter 0-2 you STOP playing stupid games with the guy and put him away.
What our pitchers have done this year is get ahead, then try a corner, miss it every time. Then they get cute with trying to get the guy to fish after a pitch, miss that one. Now they are 2-2. The hitter is back in the count. You get a 0-2 you throw the first pitch again.
Why is it the bullpen is ALWAYS playing cutsey with the count? Even Papelbon is doing it – throw strikes, keep it off the middle of the plate, and get the batters to swing and get outs. Rant off.
Who ARE these guys playing out there anyway? I go away on vacay for 2 weeks, come back and its like a new team.

I don’t care who our cleanup hitter is, as long as he continues to clean up. Pedroia is a stud and he takes hacks like a cleanup hitter, so why not? Besides, if I am going into a battle, I’ll take 9 Pedroia’s anyway.

Remember 2 years ago when Pedroia got a September callup and was terrible? I don’t. :)
