For some comparison, during his 18-win season last year he thew 61% of his pitches for strikes. But nobody ever said that he "pounded the zone" back then. In his starts this season before this one he threw 63% of his pitches for strikes. I hate it as much as anybody when he nibbles, and I was very happy with this performance, but I just think that saying that he "pounded the zone" is going a bit overboard. His biggest problem up until now has been a consistent failure to do so as often as Beckett and Lester routinely do.
